Introduction to Advanced Ceramics

Advanced ceramics, also referred to as technical ceramics, engineering ceramics or industrial ceramics. These terms cover a variety of different, and in part highly-specialized, ceramic materials with unique mechanical, electrical, thermal and biochemical properties and property combinations. Ceramic materials, which possess special electric or piezoelectric properties, are also referred to as functional ceramics.

High performance oxide ceramic supplied by Ceramlet is, for example, aluminum oxide (Al2O3), zirconium oxide (ZrO2), aluminum titanate (Al2TiO5), silicate ceramic. High performance non-oxide ceramic is also available, such as silicon carbide (SiSiC or SSiC), silicon nitride (Si3N4) or aluminum nitride (AlN), among others. In addition, composite materials as metal matrix composites (MMC) or ceramic matrix composites (CMC) are offered.
